Day 1. Broome Departure – Gantheaume Beach

On the day you embark on your Kimberley cruise adventure, our transfer coach will pick up our guests from their hotel accommodation in Broome from 1:30pm and after a short drive, we arrive at Gantheaume Point. It’s just a quick tender ride across the bay to the awaiting Ocean Dream and once onboard, you can unpack, meet your fellow guests and crew, and enjoy a welcome aboard drink as you start your cruise with a magnificent sunset over Cable Beach.

The vessel will continue to steam north along the Dampier Peninsula past Cape Leveque as you sleep through the night.

Day 2. Silica Beach & Crocodile Creek – Buccaneer Archipelago

Take in the beautiful scenery as we cruise through Yampi Sound to Silica Beach, located on Hidden Island. Forming part of the Buccaneer Archipelago, it is named after the high content of Silica in the sand and is a lovely place to swim and stretch your legs.

In the afternoon enjoy an expedition up Crocodile Creek and a freshwater swim in a spring fed waterhole.

Day 3. Horizontal Falls – Talbot Bay

Today we cruise through to Talbot Bay, home of the remarkable Horizontal Falls. Guests have the option of taking a fast boat ride through the falls and a scenic helicopter flight for an aerial view. We take a tender vessel excursion up Cyclone Creek to explore the incredible rock formations created billions of years ago.

Day 4. Red Cone Creek – Ruby Falls & Montgomery Reef

The morning will be spent exploring the fascinating Montgomery Reef that appears to rise on a falling tide. Witness the abundance of marine life such as fish, crabs, manta rays, sharks and dugongs as their habitat changes with the moving tide. In the afternoon, there will be the chance of some fishing or mud crabbing and a scenic tender excursion as we explore Red Cone Creek to Ruby Falls.

Day 5. Prince Regent River, King Cascade Falls

We take a scenic steam along the Prince Regent River to King Cascade Falls. Guests have the opportunity of a refreshing cool down as Ocean Dream’s bow is manoeuvred directly under the falls. Choice of a scenic tender vessel excursion exploring the amazing wildlife in this region or climb to the top of the falls for a freshwater swim.

Day 6. Bigge Island – Bonaparte Archipelago

Experience the beauty of Bigge Island which lies approximately 6 kilometres off the coast in the Bonaparte Archipelago. This weathered sandstone island is surrounded by reef filled bays and is home to several endangered and rare mammals. It is also a significant Indigenous rock art site for the Wunambal Gaambera people.

Day 7. Swift Bay

If the tides are favourable, there will be an early morning oyster harvest on the exposed rocks of Swift Bay. Guests will then have the option of a helicopter flight over the Mitchell Falls, or a scenic tender vessel excursion. The afternoon is spent exploring the cultural significance of Swift Bay that was once an important meeting place for the Indigenous people.

Day 8. Mitchell River, Surveyor’s Pool

If you haven’t seen a crocodile yet then you will more than likely encounter one or two on the mighty Mitchell River. A fantastic river for fishing and exploring the hundreds of creeks that form along the mangrove forests as the tide falls. The area is alive with wildlife making for exciting scenic excursions and the afternoon is spent at the beautiful Surveyor’s Pool for a bush walk and swim.

Day 9. Vansittart Bay, Jar Island

Tender vessel excursion out to Jar Island to explore the fascinating Gwion Gwion art, also known as Bradshaw Art. Unique to the Kimberley region, Gwion Gwion art is recorded to be over 17,000 years old. Opportunity to walk to the crash site of DC3 aircraft which crashed in 1942, located on the eastern side of Vansittart Bay.

Day 10. Glycosmis Falls & Barra Falls

Located near Cape Londonderry, today we experience two unique and impressive falls of the north Kimberley. Glycosmis Falls, complete with two thundering streams of water pouring off the cliff face into the sea is well worth a visit and if time permits and tides are right, we can explore the area for Bradshaw Art. Barra Falls, equally as impressive and only accessible by helicopter or smaller vessels, is a stunning location for a hike and freshwater swim.

Day 11. Koolama Bay

We visit the historically significant Koolama Bay where the 1942 MV Koolama bombing attack by Japanese air raids occurred. Swim in the afternoon in a beautiful waterhole at the site where the MV Koolama bombing survivors camped.

Day 12. King George River, King George Falls

At high tide, we cross the sandbars of the King George River and make our way up to the falls. It’s an enticing welcome to one of the Kimberley’s most magnificent natural wonders. The dual waterfall has a vertical drop of over 80m, making it one the tallest waterfalls in Western Australia.

Day 13. Berkeley River

Join a tender vessel excursion to explore the beautiful Berkeley River, with towering gorges, waterfalls and sandstone cliffs. We discover the head of this incredible river system and the myriad of animal species that call this place home. Swim in freshwater holes and there is the opportunity for a spot of fishing.

Day 14. Wyndham – Kununurra

Following one last breakfast on board, say your final goodbyes to the crew as we disembark from Ocean Dream in Wyndham. Our commentated courtesy coach journey takes approximately 1 hour to arrive in Kununurra where you can be dropped off at the airport or your accommodation.
